Orange peel is often used to enhance other flavours in desserts, gravies, sauces, and meat dishes. Dried orange peel can also be used as a garnish. It is a tasty addition to herbal tea blends.
Dried orange peel is strongly aromatic, with a pleasant, sweet odour, but a bitter taste. It is capable of softening other taste impressions. Yet it is suited not only for fish but also for meat; especially the strong taste of innards is made more pleasant. Careful dosage is essential. It is used as an ingredient in 5-spice powder in some regions of China.
